Public projects with outdoor lighting

The Roundhouse Parking Lot is being rebuilt in summer 2021.  The plan includes lights brighter with more glare even than in adjacent Pulaski Park.  See our report below.

Lights from the garage are 10x brighter than DOE/IES recommendations and poorly shielded against glare and light trespass.  The city plans to replace them in 2021 -- with LEDs just as bright and just as poorly shielded.  See our report below.

MassDOT plans to install 435,000 lumens of high-glare, high-blue (4000K) streetlights at the new roundabout on Route 9, immediately adjacent to historic residential neighborhoods and sensitive riparian habitats of the Connecticut River.  See our first letter to MassDOT, their response, our second letter, and their second response below.
